A Historic Step Toward Value-Based Healthcare in Syria

A Historic Step Toward Value-Based Healthcare in Syria

We were honored to host a landmark event at Damascus University, marking a pivotal moment in building a value-based healthcare system in Syria.

With the presence of Dr. Mousab Nazzal Ali, Minister of Health, and Dr. Abdulsalam Halal, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, along with Dr. Monzer Yazji, the President of the UOSSM US, and Dr. Mohammad Zahed Al Masri, ED of UOSSM, we brought together health directors from across all regions, their administrative teams, and Ministry of Health officers.

UOSSM presented our Pioneer Primary Health Care (PHC) Project, which has already begun with field assessments of current clinics in Damascus, Damascus Suburbs, Daraa, Hama, and Deir Ezzor. Each city will soon have a pilot training clinic to serve as a model for delivering high-quality, people-centered care

This initiative lays the foundation for value-based healthcare in Syria—an approach that leads to:

  • Better health for individuals
  • Better outcomes for communities
  • Better support for providers
  • Affordability and health equity for all

Ultimately, this model will contribute to lowering the overall cost of healthcare while improving its impact.

Workshops during the event focused on planning 2025 priorities together—uniting leaders in a shared vision for a healthier Syria.
