Overview

UOSSM has been dedicated to safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable populations, particularly in conflict-affected areas. Our protection program focuses on critical initiatives in Child Protection (CP) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), aimed at creating safe and supportive environments for individuals and families.

Impact

In 2023, UOSSM’s protection program reached 12,847 beneficiaries through our various initiatives. From child protection to gender-based violence support, we are committed to enhancing the lives of those affected by conflict, ensuring every individual has access to the support and resources they need to thrive.

Specialized Centers

Child Protection (CP)

UOSSM’s Child Protection initiatives are designed to enhance the safety and development of children in affected communities. Key activities include:

Specialized Case Management: Our CP case workers provide individualized support to children in need, offering emergency funds to those most vulnerable.
Psychosocial Support (PSS): We conduct various PSS activities, including the “I Deal” program and Early Childhood Development (ECD) sessions, to foster emotional well-being and resilience among children.

Awareness-Raising Sessions: We engage parents and caregivers through group sessions on child protection issues, promoting community understanding and support.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

The GBV program focuses on providing essential services and support to individuals affected by violence and discrimination. Our comprehensive approach includes:

Case Management Services: Through Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) and various Primary Health Centers (PHCs), our dedicated GBV case workers provide vital case management to beneficiaries.
Community Engagement: We conduct extensive awareness-raising activities, educating individuals on GBV issues and available support services.
Recreational Activities: By offering recreational opportunities within our centers, we foster community connections and provide a much-needed respite for those impacted by GBV.

Evidence-Based Trauma Stabilization (EBTS) & Early Childhood Development (ECD)

We recognize the importance of addressing trauma and supporting healthy child development. Our programs include:

Trauma Stabilization Sessions: Conducted by trained field officers, these sessions benefit both children and caregivers, providing essential coping strategies.
Ahlan Sesame Programs: Through engaging sessions for children and caregivers, we promote learning and development, addressing educational needs in a nurturing environment.

Psycho-Social Support Sessions: Offering numerous PSS sessions to foster emotional resilience and well-being among orphaned children.
