In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare system in Northern Syria especially for children, UOSSM is establishing a comprehensive children’s hospital on a 12,000 square meter plot of land. The hospital will offer prenatal care, delivery services, pediatric treatments, and support for healthy pregnancies and early childhood development. It will also accommodate future services such as vaccination programs and specialized rehabilitation.
The Challenge
The healthcare situation in northern Syria is rapidly deteriorating, with an escalating number of children being deprived of essential medical care each day. This highlights the critical need for our proposed hospital. Our objective is to construct a new facility that will contribute to the enhancement of the health system by accommodating the growing number of children in need. The envisioned hospital aims to offer unique and unparalleled services that are currently unavailable in northern Syria, and the hospital will play a crucial role in addressing the pressing health challenges faced by the community.
The Solution
Our mission is to establish a comprehensive children’s hospital with departments for various medical specialties, including pediatric surgery, internal medicine, general surgery, and gynecology. The hospital will offer outpatient clinics, emergency services, diagnostic facilities, surgical rooms, admission wards, and intensive care units for neonates and children. Additionally, it will have a maternity department, pharmacy, and supply store. Capacity-building activities such as staff training and medical education programs will be conducted to strengthen healthcare services, including support for the residency program in the Syrian Board of Medical Specialties.
