(three boys and one girl), after their home was bombed in an airstrike in Rafah. Her husband is in critical condition with severe brain injuries. Amany is one of over 220 humanitarian workers who were killed in Gaza since October, according to the UN.
Amany, one of our psychologist counselors, was just hired and began working on a mental health project in Gaza. Other members of our staff had to evacuate the area in Rafah, with no clarity on where they could go.
Since November 2023, UOSSM USA has been delivering medical and humanitarian aid including medical supplies, food baskets, blankets, sleeping bags, hygiene kits, first aid kits, baby formula, and baby diapers, During the month of Ramadan, additional food baskets and cooked meals were also distributed to the neediest of families.
As part of our ongoing efforts, UOSSM USA, in collaboration with UOSSM Canada, recently launched an advanced wound care medical project, where over 1000 wound vac devices will be delivered to Gaza, in addition to a mental health program to address the overwhelming needs of the innocent and vulnerable families. UOSSM has also been establishing medical facilities, deploying professional surgeons and six medical units to provide critical healthcare services in Rafah, and the middle area of Gaza.
Dr. Khaula Sawah, President of UOSSM USA said, “Our hearts are broken over the horrible news of Amany, our psychological counselor, and her children being killed. She just began working with us last week and we were incredibly honored to have her on our team. Amany is just one of many innocent lives brutally killed in the ongoing bloodshed and our heartfelt condolences go out to her surviving family and to all the innocent civilians of Gaza. But this will not deter us, we will continue with our projects to serve the innocent, most vulnerable families. We call on the international community and anyone with a heart that still beats stop the bloodshed on innocent civilians. Too many innocent lives have been lost.”
