The northern regions of Syria, particularly Aleppo and Idlib, are facing a catastrophic crisis, worsened by the intensification of military operations. From November 26 to 30, violence increased with airstrikes, artillery bombardments, and ground fighting, forcing over 20,000 people to flee their homes. As harsh winter sets in, many displaced people are living in disastrous conditions, struggling to survive without shelter, food, or adequate medical care.
Hospitals, already overwhelmed due to pre-existing shortages, are beyond capacity. The healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, and trauma cases are arriving faster than doctors can treat them. Local medical facilities, including hospitals managed by UOSSM, are facing severe shortages of medical supplies and blood. As UOSSM ambulances are increasingly targeted, medical workers continue to struggle, despite the significant risks to their lives.
