UOSSM

Overview

In Lebanon, the situation has spiraled into a devastating crisis. Families who once led peaceful lives are now trapped in a nightmare. Over 1,900 lives have been lost, and more than 1.2 million people have fled their homes, seeking refuge wherever they can find it. As the healthcare system nears collapse, makeshift shelters overflow, leaving people with minimal access to food, medical care, and even the basics of hygiene. Lebanon’s struggle is urgent and real, and UOSSM has committed itself to help.

Objectives

UOSSM’s mission in Lebanon is focused on restoring health and dignity to those who have lost so much. Our objectives are simple but critical:

  • To provide rapid and reliable healthcare to those in conflict zones and overcrowded shelters.
  • To deliver essential supplies—medicines, hygiene kits, food, and shelter basics—to people who have been left with almost nothing.
  • To offer compassionate psychosocial support, helping families and children cope with the trauma of conflict and displacement.

Intervention

Our intervention in Lebanon is designed to reach people in their most vulnerable moments. UOSSM has mobilized a comprehensive, three-stage response that brings essential support directly to the people who need it most:

  1. Mobile Medical Teams on the Frontlines
UOSSM’s medical teams are on the move, entering shelters and conflict zones to provide urgent care. These teams bring much-needed relief to the injured, the ill, and expectant mothers who have been left without safe medical options. Each visit from a mobile team delivers hope, ensuring that people are not alone in their struggle.
  2. Critical Medication Supplies
In the midst of conflict, managing chronic diseases becomes a daily battle. UOSSM supplies essential medications for heart disease, diabetes, and infections—lifesaving resources in overcrowded shelters where health risks grow by the day.
  3. Hygiene Kits and Basic Supplies for Dignity and Health
For many families, leaving home meant leaving behind essentials. UOSSM provides hygiene kits specifically designed to meet the needs of women and girls, along with basic supplies to maintain health and dignity even in these challenging conditions.
  4. Food and Shelter Support to Survive
With limited resources, shelters are struggling to support the influx of families. UOSSM provides food, blankets, and mattresses, offering families the relief of a warm meal and a place to rest amid the chaos.
  5. Psychosocial Support for Healing
The trauma of losing one’s home and community is profound, especially for children. UOSSM’s psychosocial support teams bring comfort and mental health care, helping families process their grief and pain while finding the strength to carry on.

Impact

UOSSM’s response in Lebanon reaches beyond numbers—it touches lives. With every medical visit, every hygiene kit, every comforting word, we’re helping people survive and regain a sense of stability. Each intervention serves as a reminder that even in the darkest times, there is support and solidarity. UOSSM’s work is more than a response; it is a commitment to stand with the people of Lebanon through their crisis, offering tangible hope and help as they face a long and difficult journey ahead.
